Kenny Thomas had a distinguished athletic career, including playing eleven seasons in the National Basketball Association. He has since become an entrepreneur and leader of nonprofits supporting youth in the community. He joins Neolth as an Advisor, to help the company expand their impact, growth, and establish additional partners.
Kenny’s determination and leadership has shown throughout his athletic career. In his senior year Kenny was a member of the U.S. team that won the gold medal at the 1997 World University Games in Trapani, Italy. He attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque – one of the highest-profile recruits to ever attend the school. As a Lobo, he earned All-Western Athletic Conference honors three times (1996, 1998-99), 2nd team All-America by Basketball Times following his junior season, two-time Most Valuable Player of the WAC Tournament (1996 and 98) and WAC Freshman of the Year in 1996.
The Houston Rockets selected Thomas as the 22nd pick in the 1999 NBA Draft. Kenny enjoyed a stellar career with the Houston Rockets, the Philadelphia 76ers and Sacramento Kings before retiring from basketball in 2010. In 2012 Kenny received the honor of becoming a New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame Inductee.
Since retiring from the NBA, Kenny has become an entrepreneur and established multiple businesses. Kenny also currently works as a Pre-game and Post-game Commentator for NBC Sports California for the Sacramento Kings NBA games.
Rooted in Kenny’s commitment to communities across America, Kenny’s initiatives and partnerships aim to uplift and inspire youth through efforts focused on education, community and creating change. Kenny has been a Board Member with the ALS Association New Mexico Chapter, the African American Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, worked with various youth basketball tournaments, and the University of New Mexico Black Alumni Chapter. Kenny is also the founder of the Kenny Thomas Foundation, dedicated to helping the community youth experiencing financial hardship by providing them with opportunities through higher education, college scholarships, and helping families in need of assistance move from poverty to self-sufficiency.
As an Advisor at Neolth, Kenny is on a mission to inspire and nurture disadvantaged youth of America to reach their full potential through providing mental health support.
