Our "Behind the Story" series highlights Neolth's Student Content Creators, all of whom bravely share their lived experiences with mental health to break down stigma and help their peers feel less alone.
Meet the Content Creators: CJ
CJ was a content creator for Neolth in the Spring of 2023, focusing on creating a series for teens and college students who may be experiencing academic burnout. CJ has always been interested in understanding and addressing the challenges that many people face in their mental well-being. CJ also identifies within the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Community. This community includes all people of Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander ancestry who trace their origins to the countries, states, jurisdictions and/or the diasporic communities of these geographic regions. Especially as a college student within the APIDA community, she is very passionate about advocating for and providing resources for those in need.
CJ’s Neolth Series
CJ’s series focuses on the issue of burnout, and provides practical strategies and support for those struggling with it. “I wanted to create a space where young individuals could feel understood and find resources to help them navigate the challenges of burnout,” CJ shares. Many teens are responsible for school, work, and extra-curricular activities that all take up time and energy. Teen burnout is real, and can lead to emotions including anxiety, depression, lack of motivation, and more. CJ hopes that through sharing her personal stories, insights, and education, she can create a sense of community for others to let them know that they are not alone.
Why Create This Series?
CJ decided to create this series because she believes in the power of storytelling and the impact it can have on destigmatizing mental health issues. In hindsight, CJ shares that she is very grateful that she “had the chance to utilize my skills and passion for content creation to contribute to a larger conversation about mental health and well-being.”
Main Takeaways
“My ultimate hope for the series is that people will take away a sense of validation and empowerment,” CJ says. Burnout is not something to be ashamed of, and you are not alone in your struggles. “I hope that through the stories and resources shared, individuals will feel inspired to prioritize their mental well-being and seek support when needed.” It is important to proactively address burnout, and to implement self care practices to promote balance and resilience.
CJ's Burnout series will premiere on September 15th, 2023.
