Arri Kanna is a biology student at Johns Hopkins University completing his final year. He joins Neolth as a Student Advisor, to help the company in their continued commitment to improved product design & student-centered experiences.
He has over 6 years of experience working with mental health startups and NGOs that specialize in supporting marginalized groups at risk for various mental disorders. Arri is part of the executive board for the Hopkins Student Government Association, under which he created a student-run mental health clinic called “A Place To Talk”. He also helped create the Johns Hopkins “Behavioral Health Crisis Support Team”, which is a 24/7 co-responder program that pairs behavioral health clinicians with specially trained security personnel who provide immediate assistance to students’ going through crisis.
Beyond his work at Johns Hopkins, Arri developed an NGO, Ellam Ondru, based in India. The NGO provides mental health resources to marginalized groups in South India, focusing on women, transgender and lower caste folk. They connect people in need to retired teachers and mental health counselors. To date, Ellam Ondru has prevented over 2500 people from ending their lives.
As a Neolth student advisor, he hopes to work with like-minded individuals in providing resources so that no person may ever feel alone when working on bettering themselves. When asked about Neolth, Arri said, "Advocacy of mental health is personal for me. I’m excited to accelerate novel products that help mitigate people’s fear of getting help.”
Outside of school, he loves to hang out with his family, friends, work out, and have fun.
Neolth is looking forward to working with Arri to support student wellbeing. Welcome Arri to the team!
